Ludovika - University of Public Service

Ludovika - UPS was established in 2012 as a result of a merger of three separate higher education institutions. Five years later, in 2017 it integrated the water science department of the Eötvös József College of Baja.  Therefore, today, Ludovika - UPS has four faculties: the Faculty of Public Governance and International Studies, the Faculty of Military Science and Officer Training, the Faculty of Law Enforcement, and the Faculty of Water Sciences. Inter-faculty institutes also form part of the university: the Institute of Strategic Studies, the Institute of Disaster Management, the Institute of National Security and the Eötvös József Research Centre. Ludovika – UPS offers both bachelor and master as well as PhD programmes. It has more than 5000 enrolled students and employs about 600 lecturers, teachers and researchers. Ludovika-UPS offers a number of English-language master’s programs to Hungarian and foreign students: the International Public Service Relations Master’s programme prepares young professionals for international careers and those working in the public service for international tasks in international organisations and EU institutions, foreign affairs, and public administration. In September 2020, the Faculty of Water Sciences launched its International Water Governance and Diplomacy course, a rarely offered combination internationally, which aims to train experts who, with the knowledge acquired, will be able to perform international tasks in international, European Union and domestic water management organisations. In September 2021 the International Relations MA programme will start, and at the same time, the university will launch its first BA programme in English: the International Public Management BA.
The main campus of the university is located in the heart of Budapest: the Ludovika campus has 26 hectares of green area, providing a great environment for getting away from the noise of the city. There are three other campuses, one more in the capital, and two in the province, in the cities Baja and Szolnok.
